Born in China, raised in New York, Yu Yan Chen came to Bath on a whim and decided to stay in the UK until her teenage angst dissipates. In her previous life, she grinded economic data as a research analyst and reeled among the roles of judge, solicitor and defendant as a court interpreter. Always arriving and leaving, sometimes she finds herself suspended in mid-Atlantic waves, and the only way out is to learn to surf.
Two of her poems have been published by New York Quarterly and she is currently working on her first poetry collection.
