Fran is a documentary film-maker for which she has won several awards. Her films include ‘My Family And Autism’ (Bafta nominee, winner Rocky Award), ‘The Secret Life of the Classroom (RTS Award nominee),  ‘The Waughs – Fathers And Sons’ and ‘Barnardo’s Children’. She is currently making a film for the ‘Imagine’ series on BBC 1, which will be broadcast in spring 09.
  She has also worked as a journalist for various publications including The Liverpool Echo, The Sunday Times and several magazines. Her poetry has been published in three anthologies, she has written comedy scripts for Radio 4 and was the runner up in The Independent Travel Writer award. She has exhibited mixed-media artwork, and one of her pieces was in the 2008 Royal Academy Summer Show.
  ‘Britannia Terrace’, her first book, is a collection of linked short stories that form a fractured novel. The aim was to capture the lives of various residents of one street in one town over one summer. The extraordinary qualities of ordinary people is the theme. One of the stories was a finalist in the Bridport Prize, and another in the Bristol Short Story Prize. A third will be broadcast on Radio 4 in 2009.
