Born and raised in California, I’m the middle child of three in a traditional Sri Lankan family. Always an avid reader, I began writing short stories in 5th grade. My parents intended me to become a doctor, get married, and supply them with grandchildren. I started university at Cal-State Fullerton as a Biology major. A semester later I transferred to English Literature. My senior year I studied abroad at James Cook University, Australia. After graduating, I worked as a news assistant for Southern California’s metropolitan newspaper, the OC Register, and wrote my first novel.
